Emily Hammond Meazell’s expertise lies in administrative law, environmental law, law and science, risk regulation, energy law, and water law. A former civil engineer who practiced in the environmental and water resources fields prior to attending law school, her recent articles have appeared in the Duke Law Journal, the Columbia Law Review, the Michigan Law Review, and the Indiana Law Journal. She is a member scholar of the Center for Progressive Reform, has provided service to the International Atomic Energy Agency, and has served as a Hearing Examiner for the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.

Professor Meazell began her legal career as a law clerk to Judge Richard W. Story of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Following her clerkship, she served as an associate at the law firm of Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, LLP in Atlanta, Georgia. While with the firm, she worked on all aspects of civil litigation in cases ranging from complex business disputes to pro bono civil rights suits. Prior to joining the faculty at Wake Forest, Professor Meazell served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Director of the Law Center, and Associate Professor at University of Oklahoma College of Law. She has also served as a Visiting Professor at University of Georgia College of Law.
