Susan Montaquila is a well-known and experienced administrator and educator in the field of the education of foreign lawyers in American law. She has served on the scholar interview and review boards for programs sponsored by Open Society Institute of the George Soros Foundation in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and for the Institute’s Palestinian Rule of Law Program.  She has also taught the Institute’s Pre-Academic Summer Program in Istanbul, Turkey. Prior to joining Wake Forest, she was an associate and partner with a law firm in Winston Salem and a member of the Legal Department of RJR Nabisco, where she worked in the litigation, corporate, finance and securities sections. Her community service activities include serving as a Board member of the Ronald McDonald House and the Children’s Cancer Patients Support Program of Brenner Children’s Hospital and formerly as a member of the United Way Loaned Executive Program and a Board member of the Winston-Salem Urban Arts Council. She is married to Dr. Ronald J. Montaquila and has two children, Julian age 22 and Eben age 20.
