Adjunct Professor of Law
Karol Sparks is a partner in the law firm of Barack, Ferrazzano, Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP. Although the firm is based in Chicago, Professor Sparks bases her legal practice in North Carolina. Karol is a partner in the firm's financial institutions group, concentrating on corporate activities and regulatory issues of financial institutions; she counsels them in particular on the distribution of non-traditional banking products such as annuities, insurance, mutual funds, and prepaid cards. She is an active participant in the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and a former President of the Section’s Banking Law Committee. Professor Sparks is the author of Insurance Activities of Banks, distributed by Aspen Law and Business Publishers. She has also taught at the University of Iowa School of Law and Elon University School of Law, and regularly serves as a faculty member for continuing legal education programs in her areas of specialty. Professor Sparks received her law degree from Indiana University School of Law.
