Law students to volunteer during Fall CommUNITY Cares Day

October 19, 2009

Students, faculty and staff from Wake Forest University School of Law will join students, faculty and staff at Kimberley Park Elementary School this fall to improve the school's grounds by completing landscaping and other beautification projects.

The Fall CommUNITY Cares Day, led by members of the law school’s third-year class, the Student Bar Association and the Youth Advocacy Group, that was scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1701 Cherry St., has been postponed due to weather. It will be rescheduled at a later date, said third-year law student and event organizer Katie Beckman.

“CommUNITY Cares Day is an opportunity for law students, faculty and staff to work hand-in-hand with local kids, their families, and their teachers to improve their daily lives,” Beckman said. “This fall the third-year law class is teaming up with the Youth Advocacy Group for the Fall CommUNITY Cares Day at Kimberly Park Elementary. We will be doing some beautification on the outside and sprucing up the inside.”

About 75 law school students, faculty and staff participated in a spring CommUNITY Cares Day at the elementary school.
