Public Interest Law Organization (PILO)

The Public Interest Law Organization is connected with the Public Interest Law Foundation, which is dedicated to broadening the law students' experience in non-traditional areas of law.

The Foundation raises and provides funds to students who wish to work in some non-profit public-interest areas of the law, including the District Attorney's Office and the Public Defender's Office. Grants are awarded on the basis of the personal experience the students will receive and the community benefit involved.

PILO grants are funded primarily with funds raised in the Annual PILO Auction, where students bid on items donated by students, professors, and the community. The PILO Auction is always one of the highlights of the school year. In addition, PILO organizes several charity events throughout the year, including Kickball for Kids and the Angel Tree.

PILO is an organization that is open to all students, faculty, and community members.
