Recruiting Policies for Students

The Office of Career Services is committed to each student's ethical and professional growth and development during law school and into future career positions and endeavors. As such, each student is expected to adhere to certain policies and guidelines that promote ethics and professionalism in the recruiting process.

Students who wish to participate in a Wake Forest-sponsored recruiting program are required to submit a signed copy of the Student Professionalism Contract before participating.

NALP Guidelines for Students

The National Association for Legal Professionals (NALP) consists of members of legal recruitment professionals in law schools and legal employment settings. The organization promotes fair employment practices and it has established guidelines governing the recruiting practices for member schools and employers. As a NALP member, Wake Forest University School of Law abides by the NALP recruiting guidelines and encourages law students to adhere to the recruiting guidelines for candidates.

Tips to promote a successful recruiting experience:

  • Apply only to employers in which you are sincerely interested.
  • Appear for all scheduled interviews on time.
  • Keep the Office of Career Services informed of the status of your top search efforts.
  • Notify the Office of Career Services of all callbacks and offers (including offers from summer employment) in a timely manner.
  • When you accept an offer, notify the Office of Career Services, complete the employment survey in Symplicity, send letters to other employers where you are under consideration and cease all interviews.
  • For 1Ls and 2Ls working during the summer, remember to represent Wake Forest in a professional manner at all times during your summer employment. Complete the Summer Experience Survey in Symplicity upon returning to school in the fall.
