Scholarships
We offer more than 100 unique scholarships that can completely or partially cover tuition for our three-year JD program. Additional scholarships are available to students in our LLM program. We also maintain a listing of external scholarship resources available to law students from third parties.
We want to help you accomplish your educational goals. One of the ways we do that is through our JD and LLM scholarships that are applied to your Wake Forest University School of Law tuition. There is no application for merit scholarships. Awards are based on academic record, standardized test scores, character, motivation, potential for contribution to the legal profession, and other criteria required by donors. Scholarship recipients are notified at the time of admission.
Notice: Recipients of law school scholarships, by accepting the awards, agree to allow the University to release their directory information to the donor individuals and organizations. Recipients of named scholarships may be required to write a thank you note to the donor as a condition for renewal.
Scholarships for Incoming JD Students
In addition to merit scholarships, which are awarded at the time of admission and do not require an application, incoming first-year students in the JD program are eligible to apply for the following renewable scholarships. A separate application (required) is available to admitted students through the admission application portal beginning in the spring. The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid will provide additional information to admitted students by email.
The Doug and Peggy Abrams Scholarship provides funding to students based on academic merit, financial need, and the recipient’s expressed commitment to consumer rights.
The Charles P. Rose Endowed Scholarship was established in 1999 by friends and former students of Professor Charles Rose, retired constitutional law professor at Wake Forest Law. The recipient of the scholarship should be someone who has succeeded through hard work and perseverance, against difficult odds, and whose record demonstrates a commitment to community service. The recipient should also demonstrate a sensitivity to civility and professionalism as well as financial need. Preference will be given to those who are first-generation law school students.
The Donald L. Smith / Manila G. Shaver Scholarship was established in 2005 as a North Carolina non-profit entity for charitable and educational purposes. The scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a strong connection to the state of North Carolina as well as significant financial need.
Scholarships for Current Students
The David Shores Scholarship in Taxation and Antitrust is awarded each year to the student (or students in the event of a tie) who achieves the highest grade in the Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders course and to the student (or students in the event of a tie) who achieves the highest grade in the Antitrust course. No application is required.

There are many free scholarship search tools on the Internet. Avoid any company that charges a fee for scholarship searches or applications. The following organizations offer free scholarship search tools for students.
Outside Aid Policy
Recipients of additional aid from any source which is not included on the financial aid letter must notify the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid of receipt. The total amount of all sources of financial aid may not exceed the Cost of Attendance.
