Careers

Providing professional guidance to prepare students for the modern legal market.
The Office of Career & Professional Development partners with students to support the process of professional identity formation and offer resources for career planning and job searching. We empower students to reach their career aspirations by developing professional skills, understanding career opportunities, and identifying and pursuing their individual goals.

From 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙚𝙨 & 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 to our 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄𝙨 ___ 𝙇𝙖𝙬? series, including this month’s 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄𝙨 𝙏𝙖𝙭 𝙇𝙖𝙬? panel, students had the opportunity to interact with professionals who generously shared their insight and experience.
At Law OCPD, we are proud to create spaces where questions are welcomed and connections are formed. Whether over food or in a quick exchange after a panel, these moments matter. They shape confidence, direction, and the future of our legal community.
We are grateful to do this work, and even more grateful for the students and professionals who make it possible.
Law school has a way of making everyone else’s progress feel louder than your own.
-Hiring timelines vary.
-Employers hire differently based on a number of factors.
-And your career is not built in one year.
If you need perspective, let’s talk.

Yesterday’s “What Is Tax Law?” panel gave students a closer look at what a career in tax law can actually look like.
We’re grateful to the North Carolina Bar Association Tax Section for sharing their insights, encouragement, and taking the time afterward to speak with our students. Exploring different practice areas is a key component of a student’s professional development.

💛🖤Happy Valentine’s Day from OCPD 🖤💛
To all our law students at WFU, we see the effort you’re putting in every day. Law school asks a lot of you, and the way you continue to show up matters more than you know.
Wherever you are right now, whether you are waiting on an offer, building experience, refining your résumé, or still figuring it out, know that you are not behind. You are building.
If you find yourself unable to relax this weekend, remember that you do not have to navigate it alone. We are here for you.
