Wake Forest Law competitions include Moot court, Joint Competitive Mock Trial program, Transactional Law Competition, and Trial Bar. Learn more below.

Moot Court

Moot Court creates opportunities for students to develop effective legal research skills, draft persuasive appellate briefs, and deliver oral arguments through their participation in various intramural and interscholastic appellate advocacy competitions.

Joint Competitive Mock Trial Program (Trial Teams)

Wake Forest Law has a history of excellence in trial advocacy, including regional and national victories. Students are coached by practicing attorneys and engage in intensive preparation and practice in the Law School’s courtrooms.

Transactional Law Competition

The Transactional Law Competition (TLC) is an opportunity for students to practice drafting and negotiations, as well as a networking opportunity with practicing attorneys who judge the final round. Student members of the TLC also compete in regional transactional competitions and are involved in organizing and promoting educational opportunities for transactional law at the school.

Trial Bar

This student organization runs both the 1L Mock Trial Competition and the Cynthia J. Zeliff Mock Trial Competition (open to 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls). Trial Bar also works to coordinate lunch-and-learns with practicing litigators and also is involved in selecting student teams for select external mock trial competitions outside of our AAJ and NTT teams.
